M.A.D. Bike

The MAD Bike is a standard mountain bike that has been retrofitted into a regenerative electric bike. The purpose of the bike was for research to determine the feasibility of retrofitting a standard bike and adding an element to recharge that battery as the bike moves. This was done through adding an electric conversion kit, an axial flux alternator and a sensor package.
Individual Components
Electric Conversion Package
To convert our standard bicycle to electric we purchased a package that contained an electric rear hub motor, a motor controller, and a battery.
